Volunteering

With a small staff, AITC relies on the work of volunteers to help us reach out to communities and students to raise awareness of archaeology and history. Whether you have one hour a week, an afternoon a month, or one day a year, come join us! Whether you are in the Washington, DC area or elsewhere, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.

AITC organizes a few larger events throughout the year, but often has smaller needs on an ongoing basis. Depending on your skills and interests, you can help us:
  • Bring hands-on archaeology activities to K-12 students
  • Research and design activities and lesson plans
  • Promote and organize community events
  • Create educational videos
  • Fundraise
  • Communicate through social media and newsletters
  • Represent AITC at festivals, career fairs, and other outreach opportunities

People of all backgrounds are appreciated and welcome, especially those with experience in education, archaeology, heritage, events planning, photography/videography, art, fundraising, and communications. There is a project for everyone. Those who would like to work directly with students will be required to complete a background check and training.

Fill out the volunteer application form to be notified about upcoming volunteering opportunities.
